ChrisTrains and SBB in 2024

Augustus 2024: Je hebt hier misschien al over gelezen in de TSC-community, maar SBB heeft onlangs alle licentieovereenkomsten met ontwikkelaars van modellen voor alle treinsimulatorspellen gewijzigd. Ik weet niet of iemand echt weet wat er is gebeurd waardoor ze dit hebben gedaan, maar de korte versie is dit: om legaal te blijven met mijn SBB-licentie, mag ik nu niets anders dan de meest basale rijfuncties opnemen in een nieuwe model dat iets te maken heeft met Zwitserse spoorwegmaatschappijen. Dit zou gevolgen hebben voor de v3.0.0-update van mijn Stadler GTW-model. Echter: SBB is zo vriendelijk geweest om met mij samen te werken aan de Stadler GTW-update en heeft mij een eenmalige uitzondering verleend voor dit model, aangezien de Thurbo GTW niet het primaire doel van de update is en de GTW een gevestigd 'oud' model is. Dit betekent dat ik een paar cosmetische wijzigingen heb moeten aanbrengen waar de meeste spelers zich niet druk om zouden moeten maken of die ze niet zouden moeten opmerken, maar ik hoef niet met terugwerkende kracht alle scripts en bedieningselementen uit het model te halen.
Ik ben SBB dankbaar voor de samenwerking en het verlenen van deze uitzondering. De lange termijngevolgen van de nieuwe licentieovereenkomst betekenen echter dat ik, mocht ik nog andere SBB-treinen besturen, gebonden ben aan de eisen voor zeer vereenvoudigde bediening.

August 2024: You may have read about this elsewhere in the TSC community, but recently SBB modified all the license agreements with developers of models for all train simulator games. I don’t know if anyone really knows what happened to cause them to do this, but the short version is this: for me to remain legal with my SBB license, I am now forbidden from including anything other than than the most basic driving functions, in any new model that has anything to do with Swiss rail operators. This was going to have consequences for the v3.0.0 update of my Stadler GTW model. However : SBB have been kind enough to work with me on the Stadler GTW update and have granted me a one-time exception for this model, as the Thurbo GTW is not the primary objective of the update, and the GTW is an established 'old' model. This means that I have had to make a few cosmetic changes that most players shouldn't care about, or notice, but I do not have to retroactively pull all the scripts and controls out of the model.
I am grateful to SBB for working with me and granting me this exception, but the long-term effect of the new licensing agreement means that - should I do any other SBB trains - I would be bound by the requirements for super simplified controls.
